Icarus - Under construction

Icarus is a performance keynote about finding meaning and daring to take flight. We often remember Icarus for his fall. I turn my attention to his flight: the desire to escape, explore and leave familiar ground behind.

Through storytelling, music, a ladder and a pair of wings, I bring the myth into conversation with Aristotle’s idea of eudaimonia: human flourishing. I invite the audience to explore courage, connection and the choices that give their lives meaning.

What step asks for your courage? Who helps you grow? What becomes possible when you stop making yourself small?

The ladder offers no fixed steps towards a perfect life. Instead, the performance explores how we practise living well, every day. We do not have to become perfect before we can fly. We are already in the air.
