A street in flags

A flag can express who you are and what you stand for. Sharing that with the world is both powerful and vulnerable.

For this community art project, I invited my neighbours to design their own flags. I helped them explore their stories and turn them into personal symbols, then digitised the designs and had the flags printed. More than 18 neighbours took part. The process was deeply personal, and so were the flags.

Today, the flags fly on Neighbours’ Day and birthdays. Each tells a different story. Together, they celebrate a street we share.
